Wicked Creek Outfitters Vivid Vision
We are starting off as a custom gunsmith shop but that is just our humble beginnings…
We are starting off as a gunsmith shop but by 2024, we look forward to our evolution into manufacturing and e commerce sales. As James, the founder of Wicked Creek Outfitters (WCO) approaches retirement from the military in 2026, he is laying a solid foundation for his company in the firearms, outdoors, manufacturing and retail industries. WCO will mainly be comprised of Veterans seeking to produce the best American-made equipment with exceptional customer service in the industry.
Within the next five years we envision having a destination Retail and Range Complex. The Complex will include:
Giving Back
Our founder is a proud Veteran who has reached the Degree of Master Mason and is an experienced Eagle Scout and from an early age his core values of selfless service and defending the defenseless have guided his life. Building upon those values he wants to start the Wicked Creek Foundation (501c3). The goal of this is to build support system for Veterans and introduce Gold Star and First Responders kids to the outdoors.
GUNSMITH BIO
James Travillian was born with a wrench in his hand, at a very young age he displayed his mechanical way of thinking, always wanting to build things with his hands. His father, a Forest Ranger, ignited a second passion for the outdoors, by teaching him to hunt and shoot in his formative years. Like any teenager preparing for adulthood, he faced the 1st major question in life, what was he going to be when he grew up? After some careful thought and soul searching, he decided to combine his love of firearms and his passion for building things and set off to obtain a degree in gunsmithing from Murray State Jr. College. This was the first step in many to a career he loves. He learned like a man obsessed, excelling far beyond his classmates and as he approached graduation, he was offered a job with the U.S. Army’s elite unit, the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU). Upon graduating from basic training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT), he began his assignment at the USAMU in the Custom Firearms Shop (CFS) as a Competition Gunsmith and Machinist from 2007 to 2019. While serving in the CFS he built and maintained multiple weapons that won and set records for interservice and National Matches. While he no longer serves in the CFS, he is gaining other needed skills in an Operations positions at the USAMU. This experience will help him move his company Wicked Creek Outfitters forward as he sets himself up for retirement from the U.S. Army.
